Lord Mayor Celebrates Ballyoran Primary School’s Prestigious Award with Special Visit🏆

The Lord Mayor of Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council, Alderman Stephen Moutray, paid a special visit to Ballyoran Primary School today to celebrate the school’s recent achievement of a Schools of Sanctuary Award.
Ballyoran is the first school that the new Lord Mayor has visited during his year in office which is a great honour.
The Lord Mayor was warmly welcomed by the Principal, Mr Richard Woolsey, staff, and enthusiastic pupils during a special assembly. The visit marked a proud moment for the school community, which has been recognised for its unwavering dedication to fostering a learning environment where every pupil feels welcomed, safe, included, and supported.
During his visit, the Lord Mayor also met with members of the school’s Pupil Council who asked him some excellent questions on his new role.
He stated “I am delighted to be with you this morning at Ballyoran Primary School, it gives me an opportunity to congratulate everyone on receiving this very prestigious award. I am delighted that your pupils and their families see this school as a place of protection and safety. It is clear that you care for all of these young people and to have it recognised must give you tremendous satisfaction.”
Mr Woolsey expressed his pride in the school’s recognition stating “This award reflects the heart of our school community. We are committed to ensuring that every child, regardless of their background or circumstances, feels a true sense of belonging here at Ballyoran. I am incredibly proud of our pupils, staff, and families who have all played a part in making this vision a reality. I want to say a special thank you to Mrs Mackle for all her amazing work in leading us to this very successful outcome.”
