At Ballyoran Primary School children are taught a broad and balanced curriculum which is in line with the statutory Northern Ireland Curriculum.

 

The aim of the Northern Ireland Curriculum is ‘to empower young people to achieve their potential and to make informed and responsible decisions throughout their lives.’ It has 3 objectives:

 

 

  1. To develop the young person as an individual,

  2. To develop the young person as a contributor to society,

  3. To develop the young person as a contributor to the economy and environment.

There has been a major shift from content to skills within the Curriculum. The Whole Curriculum Skills and Capabilities which underpin all our teaching and learning are:

 

  1. Communication
  2. Using Mathermatic
  3. ICT

 

There are 7 Areas of Learning:

 

  1. The Arts (Music, Art & Drama)

  2. Language & Literacy

  3. Mathematics & Numeracy

  4. Personal Development and Muual Understanding (PDMU)

  5. Physical Education

  6. The World Around Us (History & Geography)

  7. Religious Education
