Eco School

2019-2020

Congratulations to the Eco-Committee who have recently renewed their Green Flag status as an Eco School. The Eco-Committee worked really hard throughout the year to achieve this award. They have been busy gardening, litter picking, painting, leading assemblies, taking surveys and much more. Well done to all involved!

A busy afternoon litter picking.

We enjoyed painting tyres today. We hope to plant some flowers in these next week.

We love our Eco Board!

Healthy Kidz provided the school with a new Golden Mile sign. We think it looks great!

P3-P7 enjoyed painting logs in our Outdoor Classroom.

Enjoying some practical Numeracy in our Outdoor Classroom.

A big thank you to Sustrans for providing our school with Hi-Vis Jackets. This will help us when travelling actively to school!

As part of our transport/ healthy living focus, Sustrans worked with our Year 6's over three days on National Standard Cycling Training. It was lots of fun!

Mrs Barkley held an assesmbly to teach us about Fairtrade. It was very interesting and we will be sure to look for the Fairtrade symbols when shopping.

Meet our Eco-Committee 2018-2019

The Eco Committee is made up of 2 pupils from each class in Years 4 to 7 and we meet at least twice each month. We are working on completing the Eco Schools programme. This is a programme which encourages children to become more aware of environmental issues. At our meetings we discuss ideas to bring about positive changes to our school environment. We have achieved our silver, bronze awards and green flag award. We are now working towards achieving our green flag renewal for our school.
Previous projects have included;
·        Improving our school grounds
·        Encouraging wildlife to visit our school grounds
·        Promoting recycling within the school
·        Reducing the amount of energy we use in school
Our current project is healthy living. The Eco Club and other pupils in the school have came up with lots of ideas on how we can make our school healthier. We will keep you updated on activities and our progress.
