World Book Day

World Book Day Tokens: Children have received a £1 book token for World Book Day 2023. Children can choose a book for free with their £1 token. With books for beginning, early, fluent and independent readers, there something for everyone. These can be used in your nearest bookseller.

DRESS UP on World Book Day: On Thursday 2nd March children should come to school dressed as their favourite, well known book character. This does NOT include footballers, film or game characters. We can't wait to see the children (and staff!) dressed up for the day.

Stop, Drop and Read: On World Book Day, we will be having a Stop, Drop and Read event throughout the school day. When we hear a bell on World Book Day, we have to stop what we are doing and read for 15 minutes. For this activity, children can bring in a book from home to read. If this is not possible, children can read a book from their class library / accelerated reader library.

Library cards: We would encourage all children in Ballyoran Primary School to become a member of Portadown Town Library to access a wide range of books. All children should have received a form from their class teacher on how to become a member. If your child can present a Library card to their class teacher, they will be entitled to a homework pass. Please become a member of Portadown Town Library before Thursday 3rd March (World Book Day).

We have lots of exciting activities planned for World Book Day. Reading is so important for your child's education and we want to encourage all of our pupils at Ballyoran Primary School to spend time reading for World Book Day.

Thank you for your support with World Book Day 2023.
