At Ballyoran Primary School we are proud to celebrate reading. There are many incentives to promote independent reading for KS2 pupils.
Pupils are awarded with certificates when they read a certain amount of words:

250,000 words - Pupils will be awarded the bronze certificate and a night off homework.

500,000 words - Pupils will be awarded the silver certificate and a night off homework.

1 Million words – Pupils will be awarded the gold certificate, the Word Millionaire certificate and money to be used to buy a book.
When pupils achieved 85% and above in ten Accelerated Reader quizzes they also receive a certificate and can choose a prize from the Accelerated Reader Prize Box.
