Irish Dancing

The Irish Dancing Club meets every Wednesday from 3.00 to 3.45pm with Mrs Heaney in the Assembly Hall. Up to 30 children are members and they learn a variety of Irish folk dances including the Reel, the Light Double Jig and the Single Jig. In addition, the children learn team dances where they work together in circles and other formations. To become a member of the school dancing team, you must have an interest in folk music and enjoy helping others, as well as working together.

Our school dancing team have taken part, very successfully, in Portadown Dancing Festival, winning many medals and certificates but our main aim is to promote the enjoyment of Irish folk dancing. Members range from 8 – 11 year old, boys and girls.

Each year our school has its own Irish Dancing Festival in June.
