As part of our World around Us topic "Food" we had great fun making our own butter. We put tubs of double cream into plastic tubs with tight lids. We put a marble in the tub as well. This is to create air bubles when we shake the tub. We shook and shook until we could see tiny lumps appearing, which gradually joined together. The remaining liquid was butter milk which we drained off. WE rinsed and squeezed the remaining water out and there was our butter. We all got to bring some home to put in the fridge and use on our toast!
