Tom Markham Cup visits Ballyoran P.S.

A special assembly was held in school to celebrate the victory of the Armagh Minor football team in the All Ireland Championship last September. Marc Davidson, a member of the minor squad, came to visit us along with three trophies won by the Armagh minor team- The Tom Markham Cup (for winning the all Ireland championship), the Ulster championship trophy and the Ulster League trophy.

Marc is a past pupil of Ballyoran Primary School and first became interested in Gaelic whilst attending Gaelic practice at the school.

P5s provided information on the Tom Markham Cup, while P6 provided “recipes for a successful Gaelic team”. Conor and Eoin from P7 contributed by congratulating Marc on his success, hoping that some day he might return with the Sam Maguire Cup! The assembly ended with a rendition of “The Boys From the County Armagh”.

Marc visited each classroom to have photographs taken with the pupils and showed great patience and enthusiasm in explaining the importance and meaning of each trophy. It was a great day for our School. We are very proud that one of our ex pupils was a member of the winning squad. Well done Marc!
