  • £1000 Raised for NSPCC Charity

    Well done and a big thank you to all the pupils and parents for raising £1000 for this worthwhile Charity which was presented to Mrs Joan Withers, local NSPCC Representative at a Special Assembly.  The money was raised through a Sponsored Work Out which took place in school on 15th November 2011.
  • Eco Schools Donation

    Mrs Bridie Delaney, Deputy Branch Manager of the Ulster Bank, visited Assembly on 9th December 2011 to present a cheque for £250 to members of the Eco Committee.
  • Ballyoran Wins SELB Christmas Card Competition

    Congratulations to one of our Yr 6 pupils who won the SELB Christmas Card Competition. This was a major achievement as entries came in from all the Primary Schools in the SELB area. She attended a special presentation at SELB HQ in Armagh on Wednesday 14th December 2011.

  • Christmas Art at the Pastoral Centre

    Ballyoran Primary School was invited to paint some Christmas art on to windows in the new Pastoral Centre. The following 6 pupils, along with Miss Turkington, did an excellent job on the windows on Tuesday 13th December 2011. They have also painted some windows in school.

  • West Midland Theatre Group Visit

    West Midland Theatre paid their annual visit to the school on Friday 2nd December 2011. Pupils very much enjoyed this year’s performance entitled ‘The Bluebird’.
  • Busy Week for Choir and Instrumental Ensemble

    Christmas has once again been a very busy time for our Choir and Instrumental Ensemble who have had four engagements outside school at Lisnisky Care Home, Bank of Ireland, Tesco Craigavon and Tesco at the Meadows Shopping Centre: this on top of performing at our own ‘Christmas Celebration’. The comments from all of these events have been very favourable. Well done to all our Choir members and Instrumentalists who have, once again, been great ambassadors for the school and a big thank you to Mrs McCreesh-West for all her hard work in preparing our singers and musicians for this busy Christmas programme, ably assisted by Mrs Warke.
  • Years 1-3 Visit to Lisburn Linen Centre & Museum

    On Wednesday 14th December 2011 Yrs 1 - 3 went on a school trip to Lisburn Linen Centre and Museum.  During their visit they had a tour around the Museum and learnt how linen is made.  They also made a Christmas plate for Santa.  The highlight of the day was visiting Santa Claus in his grotto.  Each child got to meet Santa Claus and tell him what they would like for Christmas.  They also received gifts from Santa.  He assured them that they were all very good boys and girls and he would definitely be visiting Portadown this Christmas!

    Poetry Competition Winners 2011 – Budding Poets

    Two of our pupils have excelled in a Poetry competition and were rewarded at a Prize Giving evening on Wednesday 23rd November 2011 in Navan Fort Centre alongside family members and Miss Daly.

     

    Wiktoria Kania from Year 6 was selected as the Overall Key Stage 2 winner out of all the participating schools in the competition. Her poem entitled ‘Imaginary Play’ won the hearts of the judging panel for its creativity and carefully chosen language.

     

    Adam Millar from Year 5 was chosen as our School Winner. His poem ‘Family Games’ highlights the joys and memories of playing board games at home with siblings.

     

    Maura Johnston, a professional poet on the judging panel commended the pupils from Ballyoran Primary School for their high standard of entries to this Poetry Competition. Well done to all Year 5 and Year 6 pupils.
