  • Colour Run A Great Success

    Wed 28 Jun 2017

Thank you to all the pupils and parents who supported our Colour Run on Wednesday 28th June 2017 in the People’s Park. This was a joint Shared Education event with Bocombra Primary School who we have been working in partnership with now for 6 years. Approximately 300 children and their parents attended, with Nursery – Yr 2 doing 1 lap of the park, Yr3-4 doing 2 laps and Yrs 5-7 doing 3 laps. Mr Woolsey and Mr Vallelly also completed the run. Every child received a white T shirt as part of their registration pack and at the end they received a bag of coloured chalk which they threw over each other at the end creating a cloud of bright colour over the park. Everyone had a great evening of fun and all money raised from this event will go to Autism NI. See Gallery for more photos.

  • Edinburgh Trip

    Tue 20 Jun 2017

On Wednesday 14th June, Mrs McGuire, Mrs Mackle, Mrs McCreesh-West and Miss McKernan accompanied 19 pupils from Year6/7 to Edinburgh for three days. After an early morning start, we arrived in Cairnryan and travelled by bus to Glasgow Science Centre where the children enjoyed an exciting afternoon of exploration and a visit to the Planetarium to watch a film “The Solar System and Beyond”. After checking into our hotel that evening, we walked to Princes Street for some sight-seeing and shopping.

The following morning, we enjoyed a sight-seeing tour of the city, stopping at Fettes College, the inspiration for the Hogwarts setting in the Harry Potter Movies and Edinburgh Castle where we saw the Crown Jewels and the firing of the one o’clock gun. In the afternoon we visited Dynamic Earth and Show Dome that tells the story of Planet earth. In the evening we visited Fountain Park for a fun and competitive game of Ten pin bowling.

On Friday, the last day of our trip, we travelled to North Queensferry to visit Deep Sea World, including a classroom session about sharks. This was a fascinating view of the many kinds of sea creatures that live under the sea. Afterwards, we travelled to Ayr where we spent a while in a lovely Park before travelling on to Cairnryan for our journey home. Everyone had a most memorable and pleasurable time in Edinburgh.
